We are looking for a Senior / Lead ML Developer to join our team! 

As the Technical Lead for our Machine Learning team, you will architect, develop, and deploy scalable ML solutions using modern Python tools and libraries. You will establish best practices in ML model development, deployment, and project dependency management as well as collaborate across departments. In this position, you will report directly to the CTO.

The responsibilities in more detail:

Leadership & Mentoring:

• Lead and mentor a team of ML engineers and data scientists.
• Cultivate a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Technical Strategy & Architecture:

• Architect and implement scalable ML systems using modern Python technologies.
• Oversee the end-to-end ML lifecycle—from data ingestion and preprocessing to model training, evaluation, and production deployment.
• Define and implement best practices for project dependency management and packaging using modern tools like uv (a Poetry replacement).
• Note that this position is also hands-on, to make sure that you don't loose your way with the coding

Development & Deployment:

• Develop production-ready ML pipelines using state-of-the-art ML frameworks and libraries:
  • MLflow for comprehensive ML lifecycle management.
  • Libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, and scikit-learn for model development and experimentation.
• Implement CI/CD best practices, ensuring robust testing, documentation, and maintainability of code.
• Collaborate with DevOps to containerize applications (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and manage deployments on cloud platforms.

Collaboration & Communication:

• Work closely with product owners, data engineers, and key stakeholders to align technical solutions with business goals.
• Clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.

What we about expect from you:

• 8+ years of software development experience with a strong focus on Python.
• At least 3+ years of experience designing and deploying ML systems or leading ML-focused teams.
• Expertise in Python 3.11+ and familiarity with its modern frameworks.
• Hands-on experience with modern dependency management and packaging, like uv or Poetry.
• Strong understanding of machine learning algorithms, model deployment, and performance optimization.
• Experience in technical leadership.
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a data-driven mindset.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

And what we prefer in addition:

• Experience with modern web frameworks (e.g., FastAPI) and microservices architecture.
• Container orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes, Helm)
• Familiarity with any cloud platform (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure)
• A track record of managing ML projects from concept to production.

The starting date is flexible and the job can be done from anywhere in Finland, even though most of your colleagues are located in the Helsinki area. The monthly salary range is also flexible based on your skills, knowledge and experience. For a senior-lead level, it is around 5000-7000 euros per month.
